Food for the Hungry Drive Recap
Jan 19, 2017For the twelfth consecutive year, the OSU Alumni Club of Knox County has worked with Knox County’s Food for the Hungry Drive as our primary service project. The demand on our local food pantries in Knox County continues to grow, and the annual Food for the Hungry drive is greatly needed and appreciated. This year’s event, held on December 10, 2016, raised over $220,000 and over 23 truckloads of food for the local pantries. The Club’s main responsibility is to move trucks donated by the local truck dealerships to the participating grocery stores and return the trucks to the dealerships at the end of the day. Club members also provide baked goods, handmade wreaths, and OSU items to sell at the community auctions throughout Knox County.
Special thanks go to the local truck dealerships who donate trucks for the event: Donley Ford Lincoln of Mount Vernon, DeCosky GM Center, and Goetzman Chrysler Plymouth Dodge. It takes many OSU Alumni volunteers to meet the Club’s responsibilities for the event. We would like to thank each and every individual who participated on behalf of the OSU Club of Knox County. Without each of these people, the success of the day would not be possible. The following individuals participated: Janet Boone, Bob Boyd, Brian Breece, Bob Crumm, Mary Crumm, Sean Cull, Tom Dole, George Elliott, Tracy Elliott, Barbara Lindstrom, Jerry Lindstrom, Lee McPhail, Jan Schild, Amy Seward, Joyce Skocic, Paul Spurgeon, Kristin Van Winkle, Thomas Van Winkle, Bryan Watson, Karen Wise, Bob Wise, and Rich York.
Great work, OSU Alumni!
